Job Description

Plans and administers the programs, activities and personnel of the Pickens County Library System's public service departments. Plans and directs special projects involving Library promotion and outreach activities. Coordinates Library activities with other libraries, local schools, community and special-interest organizations, government agencies, etc., as appropriate.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Supervises subordinate staff; supervisory duties include scheduling, instructing, planning, assigning and reviewing work, maintaining standards, coordinating activities, selecting and training new employees, allocating personnel, acting on employee problems and recommending employee discipline and discharge as appropriate
  • Assists subordinates with duties as required. Assists public in a professional and courteous manner
  • Receives and responds to public inquiries and complaints
  • Promotes the Library, its services and programs to the public; gives presentations to various community/civic/school groups
  • Assists in developing strategic goals and objectives for the Library
  • Participates in the development and implementation of Library policies and procedures
  • Assists with collection development
Qualifications
  • MLIS from an ALA accredited college or university
  • Must have Professional Library certification from the S.C. State Library
  • Valid S.C. driver's license
  • Requires over 4 years of experience
