Stays informed of patron needs relating to adult programs, spaces, and collections through library patron interactions and reading of current journals, websites and literature • Develops objectives and key results for Adult Services and clearly communicates SCPL’s philosophy of Adult Services to staff • Oversees adult programming for all locations, regularly meeting with librarians and assistants who plan programs for adults • Oversees the Adult Services committee providing training and guidance on adult programming, adult collections and adult spaces • Oversees the Adult Services programming budget • Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual reports related to programming and budgets for adults • Attends community meetings and builds community relationships to connect to adults in Spartanburg County • Supervises the Assistant Director of Multimedia and Fiction • Represents SCPL at conferences and events related to Adult Services
Master’s Degree in Library Science from an accredited ALA library school -ALA/MLIS with a minimum of three years of experience in a public library and supervisory experience • Thorough knowledge of professional library principles, procedures, materials and practices with three years of public library experience and supervisory experience • Extensive knowledge of Adult Services in a public library including adult programming, spaces, and collections • Strong technology skills and ability to work with a variety of devices, software and audio-visual equipment • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Strong interpersonal skills that display a positive attitude, cultural sensitivity, and a sense of humor • Ability to build teams and exercise initiative, independent judgment, and flexibility • Strong organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines, and ability to maintain a budget • Strong customer services skills and desire to work with the public of all ages • Valid driver’s license
