Job Description

Librarian I – Administration/Circulation Manages circulation services under limited supervision of the Director and in consultation with the Systems Librarian and System Training Coordinator. Provides circulation training for staff; collaborates with the systems department on software upgrades; oversees circulation reports. Interprets and communicates to public and staff regarding circulation procedures and policies; provides excellent customer service and effectively resolves issues and problems related to circulation; facilitates quarterly meetings with circulation managers and staff. Works with administration to develop and implement circulation policies and procedures; researches current circulation technologies and trends; participates on and chairs system-wide committees. • Assists in managing circulation services; oversees circulation reports and maintains patron accounts; creates and runs custom reports in SimplyReports. • Provides ILS training for staff through developing training plans, creating training materials and support documents, and scheduling training sessions. Conducts circulation training as part of new hire orientation and for current staff as needed. • Interprets and communicates circulation procedures and policies insuring system-wide consistency; responsible for reviewing circulation forms and suggesting updates; identifies best practices to improve efficiency of circulation services; facilitates quarterly meetings with circulation managers and staff. • Evaluates circulation module of ILS; tests and analyzes new features and troubleshoots workflow issues; creates documentation for upgrades. • Provides excellent customer service and effectively resolves issues and problems related to circulation; performs circulation duties at a public service desk a minimum of 8 hours a month; advocates for the library by promoting services and programs to individuals, civic organizations, community agencies, and educational institutions. Works effectively with staff across the system. Participates on and chairs system-wide committees. • Attends professional meetings, conferences, and workshops to maintain knowledge of current theories and trends in public library operations and technology. • Performs other similar duties as required.

Qualifications

Requires public speaking. Requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
