LIBRARY COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT AND TECHNICAL SERVICES MANAGER –: Charleston County Public Library, Charleston, South Carolina, is looking for a forward thinking, enthusiastic manager to lead our Collection Development and Technical Services Department, LCATS, and to provide our customers with a collection that fulfills the need of the community using library techniques and technologies that allow us to operate in the most efficient manner. Three library opening day collection projects are currently underway, with two more projected to come online in 2017, with renovations to 13 other locations. CCPL is migrating to RFID self-check and automated materials handling, headquartered at new Support Services building, so this position will also oversee work flow strategies and improvements in processing.
The LCATS Manager performs complex and administrative work planning, selecting, evaluating and maintaining all library materials’ collections. Under the supervision of the Deputy Director for Library Services, this position is responsible for system-wide selection and acquisition and oversight of cataloging, processing and display of all print, audio-visual and electronic materials. Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: ALA accredited Master of Library Science degree with six (6) years post master’s professional public library experience with three (3) years of management/ administrative experience. Well-developed communication skills; ability to plan and coordinate the work of others. Must have the stamina for periods of sitting, standing and walking. Eligible for or hold South Carolina State Library certification; a valid South Carolina driver’s license with a safe driving record. Hiring Salary Range: $56,064.50 - $63,107.20 annually depending on qualifications. Closing date: Open until position is filled.
