Library Technical Assistant

Job Description

The Library Technical Assistant, under the general supervision of the Director of Talking Book Services, coordinates all routine daily departmental mailroom and materials circulation operations.

Job Responsibilities

The Library Technical Assistant will conduct a range of tasks with responsibilities which may include:

  • Inspecting books
  • Check in returning books
  • Shelve books/shift books
  • Pull outgoing books
  • Receive new books and ensure that they are active in the catalog
  • Process overdue notices
  • Process mixed cartridges
  • Complete machine inventory tasks: maintain inventory; prepare, ship, and receive machines
  • Assist and serve as backup in duplication of audio books using specialized software
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • A high school diploma and experience in library or clerical work

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Computer skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy, completeness, and thoroughness in work.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires a valid Driver’s License

Benefits
  • Starting salary range $22,625 - $28,000 depending on experience.
  • Benefits Include: vacation (15 days per year); sick leave (15 days per year); holidays (13 days per year), standard benefits package and South Carolina State Retirement System.
