Summary:
Charleston County Public Library (CCPL) is seeking a dynamic and innovative Strategic Planning Consultant to play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the library's strategic vision for 2025 and beyond. The Consultant will work closely with the Executive Director, the Executive Team, library leadership, library trustees and stakeholders to assist in the creation, development, and implementation of a comprehensive strategic vision that aligns with CCPL's mission and goals.
Key Responsibilities and Objectives:
· Collaborate with CCPL leadership and key stakeholders to assess the current library landscape, identify challenges and opportunities, and formulate a clear strategic vision.
· Incorporate robust community engagement plan in development of strategic vision.
· Develop a comprehensive plan to actively involve the local Charleston County community/ municipalities in shaping the library's strategic vision, leveraging diverse outreach methods and inclusive platforms to gather insights, ideas, and feedback from residents, organizations, and stakeholders.
· Conduct thorough research and analysis of library trends, best practices, and community needs to inform the development of the strategic vision.
· Assist in crafting a well-defined and achievable strategic plan that outlines goals, objectives, strategies, performance metrics, and responsibilities.
· Facilitate strategic planning workshops, focus groups, and meetings to engage staff, patrons, and community members in the visioning process.
· Provide expert guidance on innovative library services, technologies, and programs that can be incorporated into the strategic vision.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that the strategic vision is integrated into various library departments and initiatives.
· Develop clear and concise communication materials to convey the strategic vision to internal and external stakeholders.
· Monitor and evaluate the progress of strategic initiatives, making recommendations for adjustments as necessary.
· Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on the status and impact of the strategic vision for library leadership, board members, county council, and stakeholders.
· Proven experience in strategic planning, preferably within a library or cultural institution, government, or non-profit setting.
· Strong understanding of library trends, emerging technologies, and innovative programming.
· Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
· Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, think critically, and develop creative solutions.
· Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
· Experience working collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
· Proficiency in research, data analysis, and report writing.
· Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and project scopes.
Application Process: Candidates should submit a proposal that identifies relevant skills, experience, and qualifications they consider appropriate to the evaluation of their ability to successfully undertake the proposed contract and meet all RFP objectives. Submission should include relevant experience, overview of team’s structure and staff positions that will engage with CCPL directly and indirectly, description of scope of services agency/firm would provide in-house and if some is provided through outside vendors, description of experience working with government agencies, non-profits, or cultural institutions, and a description of experience facilitating community-based research and strategic planning, a proposed schedule and timeline, budget, and other relevant details.
