Discus SmartSearch is Coming to Your Neighborhood Soon

Have you ever wished for a method to search across numerous Discus databases at once, with a single search? Have you fantasized about a method for home access that doesn't involve remembering the current Discus username and password? Your wishes will be granted with the upcoming arrival of SmartSearch, the new federated search tool that includes a new home access solution for the Discus resources!

SmartSearch will retrieve results from multiple databases at once and will soon be available on the Discus Web site for general searching as well as for searching by grade level and subject category. And with the implementation of geolocation authentication technology, South Carolinians will soon enjoy a new, simpler method of home access to the resources.

More details about the implementation of SmartSearch will be forthcoming after the first of the year. However, I wanted to give you the opportunity to mark your calendars now for one of the following Get Ready for SmartSearch online sessions:

These sessions have been posted and are open for registration at:

http://www.eventkeeper.com/code/events.cfm?curOrg=SCSL

Both of these new enhancements to Discus will be introduced during these live sessions. Join us for this online training and get ready for SmartSearch!

(This information is of particular importance for institutions that use the Discus homepage -- scdiscus.org -- as their point of access for launching the databases)
