Free Legislative Research Webinars Announced

The South Carolina State Library is pleased to offer a new series of five free 30-minute webinars on Legislative Research.  This series of webinars will look at resources to find and track legislation for South Carolina and the U.S. using scstatehouse.gov, congress.gov and FdSys. We’ll also look at resources for locating county and city administrative contacts, and using Discus – South Carolina’s Virtual Library resources to keep up with news.

Tuesday, February 24, 2015 – 12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Part 1 will cover contacting state legislative members and committees, reviewing the process of legislation, media sites and the Governor's webpage. Register: http://bit.ly/1tG191H

Tuesday, March 3, 2015 – 12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Part 2 will cover finding and tracking current legislation. Register: http://bit.ly/1znvxgA

Tuesday, March 10, 2015 – 12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Part 3 will explore finding the status of laws within the South Carolina Code of Laws. Register: http://bit.ly/1wJlNsC

Tuesday, March 17, 2015 – 12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Part 4 will cover using congress.gov to contact federal legislative members and review the process of legislation. Register: http://bit.ly/1zGJb1E

This series is great for students, teachers, state employees and anyone who may be interested in current legislation or reviewing media resources for analysis. The webinars are free, but registration is required.
