John Thomas Fowler to Perform at Laurens Library

John Thomas Fowler will be in the Laurens County Library at 7 PM on Thursday, November 3 to present Birth of Song in South Carolina.

This event is a part of the New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music exhibit currently on display in the Laurens County Library.
New Harmonies has been made possible at the Laurens County Library by the Humanities Council of South Carolina. New Harmonies is part of Museum on Main Street, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and the Federation of State Humanities Councils. Support for Museum on Main Street has been provided by the United States Congress.

Award winning Musician and Storyteller John Thomas Fowler has dedicated his life to preserving the musical heritage of North and South Carolina. A specialist who studies old-time string band music, John will be playing songs and explaining how music has influenced life in the Carolinas AND how the Carolinas have influenced music!

John Thomas Fowler will share with us a part of our past we may not even know about, from the lyrics to the sounds of instruments not often heard since the days of our forefathers!

This is sure to be a fun and educational program for everyone. Indeed, an event where music and history come to life!
