"State Government Information" is designed to help researchers and librarians go beyond SC.gov to find key resources for state and county level information. It will review websites and print resources for locating demographic information, health statistics, legislative information, workforce resources, budgets, expenses and revenue. "Grants Research: Finding a Funder for Your Nonprofit Organization" will help individuals locate information on grants available from private foundations and corporations, using the State Library's electronic and print resources. The Foundation Directory Online, the Foundation Center's grants database, as well as grants-related web sites, will be demonstrated. The class will include basic information on writing a grant proposal. It is offered Thursday, November 19 at 10 am. Register here.
"BOOKS, Books and more books! SC LENDS & Safari Books Online" is an introduction to the new SC LENDS online catalog and to Safari Books Online. Safari Books is an electronic resource available to state employees. The class will be at 10:30 on Friday, November 20.
All classes are in the Computer Training Room of the South Carolina State Library.
Agency programming! Library Services Librarians are also offering a program to familiarize the state employees to the new online catalog, SCLENDS, and to other online resources available statewide. Agency personnel can schedule a program (30 to 60 minutes) at your agency for staff training. Call the Information Services Desk (803-734-8026) to schedule a program.
