Literary Landmark Distinction Ceremony to be held August 1 in Greenwood

Please join us for a Literary Landmark Distinction Ceremony and Plaque Unveiling at the GLEAMNS Dr. Benjamin E. Mays Historical Presevation Site, 239 N. Hospital Street, Greenwood, SC 29646 at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 1, 2018. 

Speakers will include Dr. Tom Mack (Board Chair of the South Carolina Academy of Authors), Marlena White (President of the Board for Friends of South Carolina Libraries), Leesa Aiken (Agency Director of the South Carolina State Library), Senator Floyd Nicholson, and Representative J. Anne Parks. There will also be a keynote address from Dr. Randal Maurice Jelks, Professor of American and African American Studies University of Kansas, and author, Benjamin Elijah Mays, Schoolmaster of the Movement: A Biography
