New Training Opportunity Now Available to All SC Libraries

PCI Webinars and Niche Academy logos

The South Carolina State Library is pleased to announce that Niche Academy training is now available to all public, academic, and school library staff members in South Carolina. Niche Academy helps libraries deliver “experiences of delight” for their customers. The Academy provides online tutorials that educate library staff members about library resources and how to use them. These tutorials also help library staff members become more confident and effective in the day to day operations of the library.

Public, academic, and school library staff members in South Carolina may use Niche Academy for professional development learning opportunities. Also included on the Niche Academy platform is a full subscription to the PCI Webinars archives. To access these tutorials, library staff may visit the State Library’s Continuing Education LibGuide or contact Tiffany Hayes, Continuing Education Consultant, at thayes@statelibrary.sc.gov or (803) 545-4206. Libraries who are interested in integrating database tutorials into their websites should contact Patricia Sinclair, Electronic Resources Director, at psinclair@statelibrary.sc.gov or (803) 734-8851.

Niche has created a specialized collection of resources called Reopening Lives with information on various aspects related to library operations and COVID-19. It includes content about cleaning and disinfection, testing guidelines, COVID-19 myths and facts, and other critical information to help libraries safely serve their patrons.
