Riley named Academic Librarian of the Year

Ruth Riley, M.S., AHIP, assistant dean for executive affairs and director of library services for the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, has been named the Academic Librarian of the Year by the Southern Chapter of the Medical Library Association.

Riley was presented the award Oct. 19 during the 63rd Annual Meeting of the Southern Chapter of the Medical Library Association (SC/MLA) in Ridgeland, Miss. SC/MLA is a professional organization of health sciences librarians from six southeastern states as well as Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The SC/MLA Academic Librarian of the Year Award was established in 1998. The award recognizes outstanding librarians who demonstrate excellence in research, instruction and/or service in health librarianship.
