South Carolina's Virtual Library Made Easier with SmartSearch

Discus, South Carolina's Virtual Library, takes another great stride forward with SmartSearch! Citizens across the state now have more simplified access to Discus resources, which includes online magazines, newspapers, and reference books.

Users no longer need to use a username and password. With SmartSearch, if a computer is recognized as being located in South Carolina, direct access to Discus is granted.

SmartSearch retrieves results from multiple online resources with a single search. It's like Googling the many resources that make up Discus. SmartSearch is available on the Discus web site (www.scdiscus.org) for general searching as well as for searching by grade level and subject category. A 10 minute training video is available at the Discus web site on how to use this new service.

For more information, please contact Amy Duernberger, Electronic Resources Management Librarian, 803-737-7736 or email discusoffice@statelibrary.sc.gov.
