The SC State Library invites you to view our 2018 Summer Reading Display on the first floor, featuring acclaimed artist Brian Pinkney, illustrator and author of many highly-praised picture books including The Faithful Friend, In the Time of the Drums, and Duke Ellington. Brian has won numerous awards including two Caldecott Honors, four Coretta Scott King Honors and a Coretta Scott King Award, and the Boston Globe/Horn Book Award. He has been exhibited at The Art Institute of Chicago, Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the School of Visual Arts, and the Society of Illustrators. Check out Brian’s books on display on our book shelves.

This delightful, whimsical art is provided courtesy of the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) and will be on display from June to August 2018. This display represents the 2018 summer reading theme, Music, along with the slogan, Libraries Rock.

Join us at the SC Center for the Book for the latest installment of the Speaker at the Center series with author Tom Poland and photographer Robert Clark. The two have partnered to explore South Carolina through words and pictures in many publications and will speak on this topic.
