State Library Helps Sponsor August Food Drive

Hunger is a problem affecting the elderly and the young, the healthy and the sick. Harvest Hope and its member agencies work with people in need from all walks of life. From parents working minimum wage jobs struggling to put food on the table, to retired couples who have trouble paying for expensive medications, hunger is a reality for a growing number of South Carolinians.

The South Carolina State Library, in partnership with the South Carolina Society of Certified Public Managers and Harvest Hope Food Bank, is holding a food drive August 1 through August 14. Visitors to the library are encouraged to bring the following items: food - canned meat/fish, peanut butter, canned vegetables/fruit, dry goods (e.g. rice, cereal, coffee), and beans; other - personal care items, diapers, detergent, plastic and paper bags.

Please help support the food bank by visiting the South Carolina State Library at 1500 Senate Street (corner of Senate and Bull Streets) and bring in your much needed food donation.
