State Library to Offer New eBook Collection

The South Carolina State Library will soon expand its services to South Carolina's state government employees with a new eBook collection available for download from the library's website. Effective November 1, library card holders will be able to check out and download eBooks anytime, anywhere by visiting the State Library's web site.

State government employees will be able to browse the library's new OverDrive eBook catalog, check out with a valid library card, and download to PC, Mac®, and many mobile devices. Users will need to install free software (Adobe® Digital Editions). Titles can be enjoyed immediately or transferred to a variety of devices, including iPod®, Sony® Reader™, and many others. Titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period and there are no late fees!

According to Nancy Rosenwald, State Library Information Strategies Director, "This is a great opportunity for the state's employees to access a wide variety of eBooks that will support their work, help them develop their careers and enhance their personal lives. Downloadable eBooks are a perfect answer for our increasingly mobile society. We look forward to assisting state employees as they discover this new, powerful resource."

A special announcement will go out on November 1 with more information about how to access the new collection.
