DebbieLee Landi, Special Collections Librarian and Furman University Archivist, began the South Carolina Poetry Archives in 2005 to serve as a repository for an important and ever-expanding part of Southern literature, twentieth and twenty-first century poets. The South Carolina Poetry Archives also provides a gateway for university students and encourages Furman professors to integrate South Carolina poetry into the curricula. The South Carolina Poetry Archives currently sponsors the annual prize and is planning next year's events.
