Oconee Library Volunteer Honored by Governor

Ann Rogers, a longtime volunteer with the Oconee County Public Library, was presented with a South Carolina Governor's Volunteer Award in Columbia for her work with the South Carolina Room at the Walhalla Library. She previously won the Sarah Mills Norton Award for Volunteer Service at the library's recent Volunteer Week dinner.

"Without Ann Rogers, we wouldn't have genealogy information," said Philip Cheney, the library's director. "We are the only library of our size to possess that kind of information, and that amount of it."

Governor Nikki Haley presented the award to Ms. Rogers at the SC State House in Columbia. An awards luncheon to further honor award recipients was held at the Governor's Mansion following the ceremony.

If you are interested in volunteering with the Oconee County Public Library, submit a "VIP" Volunteer Application form to any branch or contact the Volunteer Coordinator at (864) 638-4137 or email volunteer@oconeesc.com.
