Veterans Honored with Quilts of Valor

The South Carolina State Library honors veterans with handmade Quilts of Valor to appreciate their service. In partnership with the S.C. Chapter of the Quilts of Valor Foundation, the library will host a rotating exhibit of the handmade quilts created by hundreds of volunteers from the South Carolina chapter of the Quilts of Valor Foundation. Veterans receive these lifetime awards in recognition of their service, sacrifice, and valor.

Quilts are on display from November 1, 2018 to January 9, 2019.   A Sew Day Workshop takes place November 7 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. In this free program volunteers will demonstrate how they create the quilts.  Veterans receive their personalized quilts as part of six ceremonies scheduled throughout the exhibit.
