The South Carolina State Library will kick off a series of hands-on technology workshops for public library employees in November with sessions on blogging.

The TechTracks workshops are designed to provide a basic understanding of the technology and offer hands-on instruction. The two-hour workshops on blogging will be held at the State Library in Columbia and at county libraries in Greenville, Florence and Charleston. Participants will read and subscribe to blogs using RSS feeds and create a personal blog.

Library employees who interact with the public are encouraged to attend. For these and other "TechTracks" workshop descriptions and registration, go to http://www.peopleware.net/index.cfm?siteID=383&eventDisp=TECHTRACKS. Other sessions will include instant messaging, podcasting, social software, and tagging.

The TechExpress Institute video and PowerPoint presentations by Stephen Abrams, Jenny Levine and Michael Stephens are now available. To access these and to keep current with technology topics, go to the State Library's TechExpress Web site.

Become part of the conversation by posting your comments at the new LibraryTrax blog.
