AHJ Regional Library Directgor Carolyn Fortson, Hardeeville Branch Manager Darlene Thomas-Burroughs and State Library Dirctor of Finalnce and Grants Wendy Coplen, Inclusive Services Consultant Caroline Smith, and Alexandra Sanders.

We joined the Hardeeville Library in Jasper County in celebrating new, inclusive additions to its collection. Last weekend State Library Director of Finance and Grants Wendy Coplen, Inclusive Services Consultant Caroline Smith, and Grants Administrator Alexandra Sanders visited the library to see materials purchased using a multilingual collection development grant. The grants, awarded last fall, help support people who speak a language other than English at home by offering new library materials in their first languages. Allendale/Hampton/Jasper Regional Library Director Carolyn Fortson and Hardeeville Branch Manager Darlene Thomas-Burroughs said, “This is YOUR library.” They recognize that the library belongs to everyone in the community and said citizens should utilize the many services and resources. The $2000 grants are part of the American Rescue Plan Act and funded through the Library Services and Technology Act provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and administered by the South Carolina State Library.
