Cardholders can visit SCSL stacks starting Sept. 1

South Carolina State Library cardholders who have always wanted to browse the stacks at 1500 Senate St. will get their chance starting Sept. 1, when the library’s new stack pass policy begins.

State Library cardholders, who include current and retired state employees, as well as staff members from other South Carolina libraries, will be allowed to peruse the stacks after receiving a pass at the front desk.

“The policy was changed to improve cardholders’ access to information available at the library,” said Shae Tetterton, director of Collection Management Services. Despite the change, library staffers still will pull items requested by cardholders, she said. Those who want to check out the information options for themselves can navigate the stacks with the help of directional maps on each floor.  The South Carolina State Library is located at 1500 Senate St. in Columbia.
