State Library Launches Web Site Redesign

The South Carolina State Library is pleased to announce the redesign of its web site. The new, updated version of the library's web site now provides simpler navigation, search options for the online catalog or web site, featured news and events, and even a direct Twitter feed. Banners at the top of main categories such as Services to State Employees and Talking Book Services now feature main news items. Direct links to the Library's social media applications are now made available at the bottom of every page along with the Ask A Librarian chat box.

The Library uses the open source software, Joomla, as the web site content management system. Library staff members across the state can log in to the site to post their own news items. An online tutorial will soon be posted on the Library's YouTube channel so that library staff members can learn more about this feature.

Future additions to the site will include more social networking options to share information. According to the Library's Web Administrator, Rob Lindsey, the web site is "on its way to becoming something that is easier to navigate and provide up to date news and events for library staff, the general public, and state government."

For more information, visit the library's web site at www.statelibrary.sc.gov.
