State Library Staff Changes

The State Library is pleased to announce that effective July 1, 2010, Denise Lyons has been promoted to the position of Director of Library Development. Denise joined the SC State Library team in September of 2008; she has been responsible for many outstanding projects and programs since arriving. Prior to joining the State Library, Denise was a Communications Coordinator and Assistant Library Manager for the Dallas Public Library system. Denise has a Masters degree from DePaul University in Public Services Management and Nonprofit Administration as well as a Masters degree from the University of South Carolina in Library and Information Science. Denise was named a Mover and Shaker for 2010 by Library Journal. She has proven to be a tremendous asset to our team. Denise replaces Deborah Hotchkiss who will be retiring this summer.

The State Library has also hired Jason Broughton as Workforce Development Trainer.

Jason is currently working as an Employment Career Development Specialist for Trident One-Stop Career Center. He is incredibly passionate about helping people get back to work; he has even volunteered at his local library teaching classes to assist patrons. Additionally, Jason has experience as a teacher and consultant. He is a graduate of Florida A&M University and earned a Masters' in Public Administration from the University of South Florida. He will be joining the State Library's Library Development staff on May 24th.
