It's READ-IN 2012 and You are Invited!

Read-In 2012, a statewide celebration of reading, will be held at the State House in Columbia on Thursday, April 12, 2012. This exciting event provides an opportunity for students, librarians, parents and other literacy supporters to demonstrate the importance of reading and the need for library services in our communities.

Participants will gather at the State Library at 1500 Senate Street between 9:15 am and 9:30 am. The parade to the State House begins promptly at 10 am. At the State House there will be a program followed by special entertainment and reading in small groups. The Read-In will end at noon. Each group is responsible for providing their own reading material, banners or signs. One adult for every five children is required.

All groups participating in Read-In are required to register by Monday, March 19.
