Job Description

LIBRARIAN BRANCH MANAGER/St. HELENA: Under minimal supervision, is responsible for the efficient running of the physical plant and service operations of a large branch of the Beaufort County Library. This includes responsibility for hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating staff; analyzing and preparing justifications for personnel, operating and capital line item requests for the annual departmental County budget; preparing supplementary budget requests to the Friends of the Library and other granting agencies; and working in a cooperative team relationship with the administration staff to ensure county-wide development, implementation, and evaluation of policies and procedures and to solve management problems. 

*Beaufort County has various facilities within the county, and many departments have multiple offices to serve our citizens. Management reserves the right to transfer employees from one location to another within the county at any time based on business need. Employees will be given as much notice as possible prior to a change in work location.

All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation. EOE

SALARY: $60,870.14 - $77,916.80 annually

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Masters of Library/Information Science from an accredited institution.

• Six (6) years professional library experience in public service areas.

• Two (2) years management and supervisory experience.

• Eligibility for South Carolina Public Library Certification.

• Must possess and maintain valid driver’s license.
