2014 Read-In to be held April 10

More than 1500 children from across South Carolina will gather at the State House on Thursday, April 10 to celebrate reading at the 2014 South Carolina Read-In. This annual event, sponsored by the South Carolina Association of School Librarians and the South Carolina State Library, lets students show why kids who read succeed. The theme of the event celebrates reading and encourages students to continue reading. This year's event will feature individuals representing various countries who will read the book Oh, the Places You'll Go! by Dr. Seuss in their native language.

Participants will gather in the State Library's parking lot between 9:15 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. The parade to the State House begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. Join international representatives in native dress as we parade from the State Library to the State House lead by the Benedict College drum line with State Librarian Hulen E. Bivins, USC's Cocky, Miss South Carolina USA, South Carolina Teacher of the Year Darleen Sutton, author Karen Petit with her dog Louise, and many more. The public is invited to attend.
