Annual Read-In to be Held April 16

It’s Read-In 2009 and you’re invited!  The 2009 Read-In, a statewide celebration of reading, will be held at the State House in Columbia on Thursday, April 16, 2009.

This exciting event will provide an opportunity for students, librarians, parents and other literacy supporters to demonstrate the importance of reading and the need for library services in our communities.

Participants will convene at the State Library at 1500 Senate Street between 9:15 and 9:30 a.m. The parade to the State House begins promptly at 10:00 am. At the State House, there will be a brief program followed by special activities and reading in small groups. The Read-In will end at noon. Each group is responsible for providing their own reading material to use during the Read-In and for bringing a banner or sign. One adult for every five children is required.

To register, visit http://scasl.net/documents/readin-form.pdf and return the completed form by email, fax (803-647-7095), or mail (1018 Wordsworth Drive, Columbia SC 29209) to Ann Addy by Monday, March 16, 2009.  Unfortunately, telephone registrations cannot be accepted.
