Librarians to offer Free Training Sessions

The State Library is pleased to announce the fall series free classes that are open to state employees, library staff and to the public.

Grants Research: Finding a Funder for Your Nonprofit Organization (October 19), will help individuals locate information on grants available from private foundations and corporations, using the State Library's electronic and print resources. The Foundation Directory Online, the Foundation Center's grants database, as well as grants-related web sites, will be demonstrated. The class will include basic information on writing a grant proposal. A new class on using the Foundation Directory Online will be offered on November 4 and a new class on proposal writing will be offered December 7. State Government Information - Websites and Print Resources (October 18) will introduce users to databases on state websites, print resources, and electronic documents in the State Library catalog.

Consumer Health Resources (November 16) will cover online and print resources and State Library databases that offer reliable information for health literacy.

All sessions will be held at the South Carolina State Library, 1500 Senate Street, Columbia.
