Laurens County Library to Host Author

Meet Author Martha L. Hughes at the Laurens County Library - 6:30 PM Thursday, August 4, 2011.

Author/Editor Martha Lanning Hughes will be at the Laurens County Library to introduce her book, Love & Kisses, Porter: 646 Letters Home from WWII.

When Martha L. Hughes was given a suitcase full of the letters her uncle Porter Joyner had written home from World War II, she knew she had something special. She also knew she needed to share it with others. The 646 letters represented a time long ago when life was simple and duty called. It is a collection of evidence that represents the love and devotion a soldier had to his wife back home in the Carolinas.
During her visit to the Laurens County Library, Ms Hughes will describe how she acquired the letters, arranged, edited and published the book, as well as some selected readings. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.

Don't miss this chance to meet the lady who made these letters public. Don't miss this chance to have a signed copy of the book that is a veritable time capsule into the life of a World War II soldier and his loving devotion to his wife.
