Harvin Clarendon County Library Announces New Director

The Harvin Clarendon County Library Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the hiring of director Charlotte Johnston. Trustees voted on August 1, 2011 to replace library director Marilyn Tsirigotis who retired June 30, 2011 after eleven years of service to the county and its citizens.

Ms. Johnston comes to Clarendon County from the Dorchester County Library System where she has been Children's Services Coordinator. Ms. Johnston was responsible for planning and coordinating system wide programs and services for children and teens. In addition she had staff management and curriculum development responsibilities. Ms. Johnston has Master's degrees in Library and Information Services from the University of South and from the Citadel in Education. She holds an undergraduate degree from the College of Charleston. Ms. Johnston began her career as a Library Assistant I and has successfully advanced through several positions to become the Coordinator of Children's Services.
Ms. Kirkpatrick reported that the Board is thrilled to have Ms. Johnston as HCCL's new librarian. "She brings valuable experience, energy and enthusiasm to this job. We look forward to September 6 when she joins our HCCL staff and the Clarendon community!"
