Columbia, SC – The Annual Statewide Read-In coordinated by the South Carolina State Library has been formally commended by the Affiliate Assembly of the American Association of School Librarians at the Annual Conference of the American Library Association.
The South Carolina Read-In was brought to the attention of the Assembly by the South Carolina Association of School Librarians past president, Ida Thompson. The Read-In is recognized for promoting the importance of reading and libraries in the lives of students. The Association president, Sara Kelly Johns, congratulated the State library for “bringing teachers and school librarians a step closer in the shared responsibility to help all children learn.” A Certificate of Commendation was presented to the State Library at the recent South Carolina Association of School Librarian’s annual conference held in Columbia.
The mission of the American Association of School Librarians is to advocate excellence, facilitate change, and develop leaders in the school library media field.
