State Library to Announce 2009 Notable State Documents at Ceremony

The South Carolina State Library will announce the selection of the most notable 2009 South Carolina state government documents at a ceremony to be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16. The selection is announced annually on or near Freedom of Information Day, March 16, the birthday of President James Madison, an early proponent of citizen access to government information.

Awards will be presented to the winning agencies by David Goble, State Library Director. Winning documents are selected by a committee of state documents depository librarians around the state and by staff at the South Carolina State Library. All documents will be available to view at the award ceremony.

This event is open to the public and will be held in Room 309 of the State Library's administration building located at 1430 Senate Street.
