Union County Carnegie Library Prepares for Renovations

The project will include the restoration of the original, historic section of the library which was built in 1905; the addition of meeting spaces, study rooms, and partnership spaces for collaborations designed to make the library an integral community hub; the finishing of the lower level for expanded children’s and teen’s spaces, including an early learning resource center in collaboration with First Steps.

Lina Bertinelli of Greenville Library Selected for ALA Emerging Leaders Program

The South Carolina Library Association (SCLA) is happy to announce Lina Bertinelli Greenville County Library System’s Simpsonville Branch Manager, has been selected to participate in the American Library Association’s (ALA) 2018 class of Emerging Leaders.  SCLA is proud to sponsor Ms. Bertinelli, a “rising star" in South Carolina libraries, as its 2018 Emerging Leader. 

'Unforgettable' Exhibit Travels to St. George Library

The Jennie J. McMahan Library in St. George, SC is hosting a photography exhibit by the legendary artist Cecil Williams from December 4 to January 25.

Cecil Williams, a native of Orangeburg, South Carolina, is a professional photographer, videographer, publisher, inventor, author of 6 books, and architect of six residences that became his home and photography studio. This exhibit, titled Unforgettable: Celebrating a Time of Life, Hope and Bravery, showcases some of Williams’ most powerful work.

Register for Tech Tuesday: Digital Photography and Editing Basics - November 14

Register today for our upcoming Tech Tuesday. Attendees will learn the basics about using a digital camera, settings, image framing and composition, as well as how to use free online image editing tools. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own digital cameras. There will be time for Q&A. Tech Tuesday is a free learning session and open to the general public.
