Job Description

Under the direction of the Head of Collections and Acquisitions, the Acquisitions and Collections Manager supervises acquisition team members in daily one-time purchases work. Additional responsibilities include searching, ordering, receiving, and cataloging acquired materials for the Libraries' collections; processing invoices and payments for one-time purchases; assisting with print collections projects; and providing training and outreach to liaison librarians performing collection development. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:
35% - Essential - Acquisitions & Collections Manager: Supervises acquisitions staff, with primary responsibilities in book purchase platforms, copy cataloging, ordering, entering invoices, and receiving one-time purchases. Oversees and maintains ordering workflows and documentation. Identifies and troubleshoots ordering and invoicing issues in the Library Services Platform (LSP). Recruits, evaluates, and trains staff for acquisitions.

30% - Essential - Ordering Oversight: Performs bibliographic and price verification, and places orders on publisher/vendor platforms. Checks items ordered against the LSP for duplicate copies. Uses established guidelines to search and select appropriate Library of Congress and copy catalog records from designated systems. Uploads or creates appropriate records into the LSP for English language print & AV materials, as well as rush and time-sensitive orders that can be acquired from vendor system. Retrieves and loads bibliographic records, orders, item records, and invoices into the LSP. Updates holdings in LSP.

15% - Essential - Collections Support: Follows collection management and access policies for withdrawing and relocating library materials, including books and serials being transferred to the libraries' off-site storage facility, and resolve routine problems associated with library materials. Assists with routine database maintenance and authority control activities. Works with Subject Librarians to accept gift materials when appropriate. Coordinates with Libraries' vendors on donations for sale. Pre-checks gift receipts against existing collection and downloads or creates brief bibliographic records.

15% - Essential - Fiscal Responsibilities: Processes invoices for select monographs vendors. Verifies accuracy of invoice amounts and products. Posts payments to LSP. Processes manual payments. Initiates standing orders with continuing resources personnel. Works with vendors and library personnel to resolve problems. Posts payments and reconciles invoices, identifies and resolves problems with shipments, charges, and invoice inconsistencies.

5% - Essential - Training and Outreach: Provides training and support to library faculty serving in subject liaison roles. Serves on relevant committees and task forces. Participates in implementation and training for new purchasing platforms.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Anticipated Hiring Range: $43,800.00 - $60,000.00

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Bachelor's Degree - in library science, information science or related field

Work Experience - 2+ years in library systems and operations
