DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Are you passionate about learning and innovation? Do you want to work with a team of people who are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of students? MTC Library is the place for you. Library Specialists play a vital role in supporting the academic community by helping students find information, receiving library materials, and collaborating with other library staff to develop programs and services to ensure academic success.
Circulation - Manages the circulation of materials using the Library Management System (LMS) and
follows circulation policies and procedures. Uses professional judgment to solve circulation problems
and refers complex issues to Systems Librarian. Suggests policy and procedure improvements to the
Library Director. Collects and maintains statistics related to circulation, building usage, and visitor
services.
Reference -Answers basic and intermediate reference questions in a timely and accurate manner, using a variety of library resources. Makes informed decisions and refers complex research questions to
librarians as appropriate. Participates in shelf reading projects, shelving and inventory. Supports
librarians with a variety of projects to enhance library services.
Serials - Collaborates with Electronic Database/Serials Librarian to evaluate and select relevant serials
for the Beltline Campus Library. Receives, processes, claims, weeds, and shelves serials. Works with
Electronic Database/Serials Librarian to modify the serials collection to meet user needs and library
objectives. Analyzes and evaluates MARC holdings to ensure accurate retention of publications are
reflected in the online catalog, and updates the catalog as needed.
Library and Technical Operations - Executes daily mail pick-up and distribution for Beltline Campus
Library, including journals, periodicals, magazines, and newspapers. Assists with library staff training.
Contributes to maintenance of technical operations and computer-related tasks.
Professional Development - Participates in staff development activities to support the mission of theĀ·
Library and the college, and identifies opportunities for professional growth.
Other Duties - Performs other duties as necessary or appropriate. Additional responsibilities may
include, but are not limited to scheduled shelf reading and inventory projects.
Capable of lifting weights ranging from 5 to 35 pounds. Flexibility to work evenings and potentially at
various campus locations may be necessary.

HIRING RANGE: $31,561 - $36,247 | Band 04
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: An Associate degree with two (2) years experience in library work; or a high school diploma and four (4) years experience in library work.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree with three (3) years of library experience is preferred
