Observed every year on October 15, Blind Americans Equality Day is an opportunity to recognize the accomplishments of people who are blind or have low vision, while renewing a national commitment to providing all citizens who have disabilities with the opportunity to fulfill their full potential. The National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS), Library of Congress, supports this mission through its braille and talking book program, giving those with disabilities the freedom to read their way.
NLS is a free library program that circulates braille and talking books and magazines to enrolled patrons who are blind, have low vision, or have a physical disability that prevents them from using regular print materials.
