The sixth annual Pee Dee Fiction and Poetry Festival at Francis Marion University will bring to campus the four nationally known and bestselling authors on Nov. 10 and 11, which is free and open to the public.
The two-day festival will celebrate the works of poets Michael Chitwood and Patricia Smith and fiction writers Amy Bloom and Daniel Woodrell.
There will be readings, lectures and panel discussions with programs for participants. A number of fiction and poetry topics will be covered and there will be opportunities for book signings. In addition, there will be screenings of film, Winter's Bone. An unflinching Ozark Mountain girl hacks through dangerous social terrain as she hunts down her drug-dealing father while trying to keep her family intact.
"The event will offer dynamic and personal interactions between readers and authors as they share the joy of reading," said FMU English Professor Rebecca Flannagan who is organizer of the event along with a committee consisting of a number of faculty members from the English Department.
