SC Library Association Announces Poster Session Winners

The South Carolina Library Association (SCLA) recently announced the winners of two poster session competitions held at the 2011 SCLA annual conference in North Charleston. All of the poster sessions were highly successful and all received multiple votes.

Winner of the Viewer's Choice Award -- Charlotte Johnston, Joanne Gabler, Wanda Brown, and Michaela Wiesner, Dorchester County Library and Harvin Clarendon County Library: Bright Beginnings at the Library Early Literacy Program. Presenters discussed how to create literacy kits, the logistics of circulating kits, and workshops conducted for parents and teachers that accompany the program. Samples of daycare kits were demonstrated.

Winner of the Student Spotlight Competition -- Jessica Short and Amanda Mays, University of South Carolina School of Library and Information Science: Native American Information Needs at the University of South Carolina: Improving Student Success with Diversity Initiatives.

Winning poster session presenters will receive a paid membership in the South Carolina Library Association for 2012.
