Public Library Appreciation Day to be held January 27, 2010

plad logoThe South Carolina Association of Public Library Administrators (SC APLA) is sponsoring a Public Library Appreciation Day (PLAD) on January 27th beginning at 10:30am at the South Carolina State House in Columbia. Library supporters, library staff members, and friends of the library groups are encouraged by the Association to attend. Senator Hugh Leatherman will be awarded the SC APLA Legislator of the Year award.

State Library Offers FREE Professional Development Opportunities

The Library Services Department of the State Library will be offering FREE professional development opportunities designed to introduce participants to selected library and Internet resources. These training sessions are open to library staff, state employees and public. Classes meet in the Computer Training Room of the State Library at 1500 Senate Street in Columbia.

Braille Course

brailleWho: Anyone 14 or older interested in learning to tactually read and write Braille
Date: Tuesdays beginning January 19, 2010
Time: 5:00 -- 7:00 pm
Where: SC Federation Center of the Blind, 119 S. Kilbourne Road Columbia, SC.
