The Grants Coordinator supports the strategic fundraising efforts and contributes to the growth and sustainability of Charleston County Public Library (CCPL). This role is responsible for identifying and submitting grant applications, maintaining compliance, developing reports, and managing data collection practices. Working collaboratively across departments, the Grants Coordinator leads efforts to secure external funding for programs and services, while also supporting the integrity and accuracy of CCPL’s data collection systems.

This position plays a vital role in both pre-award and post-award grant management, from researching and analyzing funding opportunities to submitting grant applications and ensuring compliance. Additionally, the role supports the Deputy Director of Innovation in the management of data collection practices, ensuring that data aligns with CCPL's strategic priorities and supports decision-making.

Grants Responsibilities

Pre-Award: Research and identify suitable grant opportunities from public and private foundations. Work with departments to develop compelling, viable grant proposals that align with CCPL’s strategic goals and capacity.
Grant Writing: Draft and submit persuasive grant proposals, including detailed project objectives and trends that reflect CCPL’s mission and needs.
Post-Award Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with all grant requirements, including tracking project milestones, financial oversight, resource allocation, and timely reporting to funders.
Reporting: Prepare progress and compliance reports, ensuring that all grant-funded activities are accurately documented and meet the requirements of funders.
Grant Lifecycle Management: Manage and monitor all grant activities across CCPL, implementing standard operating procedures for library staff engaged in grant processes.
Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments and external stakeholders, including the Friends of the Library, to ensure grant activities are aligned and support the library’s strategic initiatives.
Impact Monitoring: Assess the long-term impact of grant-funded programs, ensuring that outcomes align with CCPL’s goals and that grants contribute to sustainable growth.
Data Management Responsibilities

Data Oversight: Support the management of CCPL’s data collection practices, including developing new data collection forms, reviewing data sets, and generating reports.
Data Integrity: Ensure accuracy and consistency in data collection, monitoring for compliance with internal and external requirements.
Reporting: Create and submit reports related to both grant-funded and non-grant-related data to support decision-making and strategic planning.

$64,209.60 - $66,144.00 annually commensurate with education and experience.

Qualifications

Demonstrated experience in grant administration and compliance, with a track record of securing funding for non-profit organizations or public sector agencies.
Knowledge of non-profit accounting principles, particularly related to grant funding and financial reporting.
Excellent writing and analytic skills, with the ability to draft compelling proposals and reports.
Experience in data analysis or monitoring/evaluation of data collection systems.
Detail-oriented, with a commitment to data integrity and maintaining accurate records.
Strong organizational skills, including the ability to track and meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Forms, Excel, and Word; experience with Power BI and Power Automate is a plus.
Familiarity with grant management software (e.g., GrantStation, Foundation Directory Online) is preferred.
Ability to effectively communicate grant updates and results to stakeholders and a demonstrated ability to process complex information and present ideas clearly and persuasively.
Understanding of public library services and their importance to community development.
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Non-Profit Management, Public Administration, Business) required.
Minimum of three years of experience in grant writing and management in a non-profit or public sector setting.
Experience with data collection practices and analysis in a non-profit environment is preferred.
