Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to:
Creates, plans and coordinates programs both in the library and for outreach dependent on library needs. The ideal candidate for this position will primarily work with adult programming but will also work as a team member with the children’s librarian and branch managers.
Serves as the library’s DISCUS and electronic databases coordinator (including library’s eBooks).
Performs collection development and maintenance for the adult services collection including reference and local history in collaboration with other staff.
Actively participates in development of long-term goals for the library.
Fills interlibrary loan requests for patrons. Enforces policies and procedures in compliance with SCLENDS consortium rules and guidelines. Coordinates with staff on processing inter library loan requests between SCLENDS libraries.
Attends SCLENDS meetings for circulation and cataloging and workshops, conferences and training for professional library skills.
Assists in training and supervising specified staff and volunteers, and guiding priorities within activities and tasks. May oversee library in absence of higher staff.
Receives and responds to the public and answers information requests.
Writes monthly report and compiles statistics.
May work at the circulation desk, answering reference questions, and providing readers’ advisory services and assisting with other front desk duties.
May assist with content for website and social media in collaboration with other staff.
This position requires the ability and willingness to travel and work at any library location within the county.

A working knowledge of electronic databases of library materials and computer applications (specifically Microsoft and Google) and be comfortable and proficient using current technology. Needs to know how to work and use a cash register. Display knowledge or interest in emerging technologies.
Exhibit creativity, initiative, and passion about developing library services that benefit the entire community.
Genuinely enjoy a diverse population and interact with the public in a positive and constructive manner.
Salary:
Hiring Salary Range: $37,000 - $41,000 annually commensurate with education and experience.
Hours: This position is a full time salaried position working evenings and weekends as needed. This position has a benefits package including vacation and health insurance.

ALA accredited Masters of Library Science degree.
Eligible for or holds South Carolina library certification.
Valid driver’s license with safe driving record
Must be able to pass the required pre-employment physical, drug test and background check
Must be able to lift 20 pounds and must have stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, and bending.
