Free workshop - South Carolina genealogy: exploring online resources

The SC State Library is pleased to offer a workshop titled “South Carolina Genealogy: exploring online resources” taught by Debbie Bloom, Manager of the Walker Local and Family History Center at the Richland Library on May 9, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Attendees will explore databases, indexes, and digital content that South Carolina libraries and other public institutions are offering researchers.  All are welcome to attend.

State Library to offer unique solar eclipse workshop on July 26, 2017

The South Carolina State Library is pleased to host a free workshop on the Great American Eclipse 2017.  This interactive and hands on training is specifically designed for visually impaired individuals and those who work with visually impaired populations, including special education teachers, early childhood specialists, teacher aides, paraprofessionals, tutors, counselors, and those in higher education.

Did you know there is a South Carolina Hall of Fame?

The official South Carolina Hall of Fame is located in the Myrtle Beach Convention Center and was dedicated in 1973 by Governor John C. West. Since 2001, it has been the state's official hall of fame. The hall was created to recognize and honor those contemporary and past citizens who have made outstanding contributions to South Carolina's heritage and progress and now has over 60 inductees.

State Agency Accountability Reports

Did you know that the South Carolina State Library receives copies of the state agency Accountability Reports? These official reports are sent to the General Assembly and copies are provided to the South Carolina State Library. The reports detail how state agencies have used funds allocated by the state legislature, the federal government and/or other sources for the citizens of South Carolina.
