Public Library Appreciation Day to be held January 27, 2010
The South Carolina Association of Public Library Administrators (SC APLA) is sponsoring a Public Library Appreciation Day (PLAD) on January 27th beginning at 10:30am at the South Carolina State House in Columbia. Library supporters, library staff members, and friends of the library groups are encouraged by the Association to attend. Senator Hugh Leatherman will be awarded the SC APLA Legislator of the Year award.
State Library Offers FREE Professional Development Opportunities
The Library Services Department of the State Library will be offering FREE professional development opportunities designed to introduce participants to selected library and Internet resources. These training sessions are open to library staff, state employees and public. Classes meet in the Computer Training Room of the State Library at 1500 Senate Street in Columbia.

Traveling Smithsonian Exhibit comes to South Carolina
The Humanities CouncilSC recently announced that 12 small communities in South Carolina will have the opportunity to host the traveling Smithsonian exhibit New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music in 2011 and 2012. New Harmonies explores Americans' creative expression through music - music known by names like blues, country western, folk ballads, and gospel.

Braille Course
Who: Anyone 14 or older interested in learning to tactually read and write Braille
