FREE AUTHOR TALK AND BOOK SIGNING - Wednesday, January 20. Elizabeth Cassidy West and Katharine Thompson Allen, On the Horseshoe: A Guide to the Historic Campus of the University of South Carolina | USC Press. The comprehensive history of the original campus structures and the people who lived and worked there. Books will be available for purchase and signing. All programs will take place from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the South Carolina State Library located at 1500 Senate St., Columbia. Speaker @ the Center is FREE and open to the public.

Call for Proposals

The University of South Carolina Upstate Library will be holding a Transforming Librarians through Technology conference on May 5, 2016. We are looking for librarians and/or library science students to share how technology is transforming libraries and librarians.

The Darlington County Library System is happy to announce indie authors and aspiring writers can now get published!  You now have a chance to get your work published electronically through a free system called SELF-e and have it included in a special collection of South Carolina authors called “IndieSC”. 

The Friends of the York County Library recently announced that Faye Wyatt is the 2015 recipient of the Joann W. McMaster Volunteer of the Year award at a reception to honor Friends of the Library volunteers. The award is named in honor of Joann McMaster, who helped found the Friends of the York County Library organization in 1975 and served as its first president.  This year marks the 40^th anniversary for the Friends organization.

The Califa Library Group is accepting applications for mini-grants to librarians in rural public libraries who are interested in providing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) programming for adults. The project, which is funded by the National Science Foundation, will build your capacity to plan and facilitate science-based library programs.
