Historical brochures, flood response measures featured among selections
Maps detailing barbecue restaurants, executive orders directing natural disaster recovery efforts, and a periodical researching African-American history were among the 18 publications that made the cut for the latest South Carolina State Library's Notable State Documents list.
The Annual Literacy Leaders (ALL) Awards Nominations Committee is seeking nominations for the 2016 awards program. The ALL Awards are presented by the School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) at the University of South Carolina in the fall of each year to individuals and/or groups that have had a statewide impact on literacy in South Carolina. Their contributions can include the following kinds of activities:
Spring is right around the corner! What kind of birds come to your yard? Did you know the SC State Library has a digital collection of historical annual reports from the Audubon Society of South Carolina? The Lexington Library will host a Maker Fair on Saturday April 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The South Carolina Digital State Documents Depository provides access to publications produced by state agencies and state-supported academic institutions. These publications provide citizens with crucial information about state government, including statistics, annual accountability reports, and data on a wide variety of topics related to the state.
Clemson University will host its ninth annual Literary Festival featuring world-renowned authors such as the revered Pulitzer Prize Winner and former Poet Laureate to the United States, Charles Simic. The festival aims to promote and celebrate the art and craft of writing. South Carolina Humanities supported this project with a Fast Track Literary Grant in November 2015.
The University of South Carolina—Union will host its sixth annual Upcountry Literary Festival on March 18-19, 2016. This two day event will showcase literary, academic, and musical talents, within the rural areas of the Upstate region and is designed to encourage increased awareness, appreciation, and participation in the humanities. South Carolina Humanities supported this project with a Fast Track Literary Grant in November 2015.
