SC Department of Insurance to host story time at Beaufort libraries

Mark your calendars! Friday, June 3, 2016 SC Scout will visit two Beaufort County Libraries to talk with children about being storm ready. SC Scout, the South Carolina Department of Insurance weather sentry, will offer a Storytime Blitz for children at the Beaufort County Downtown Library located at 311 Scott Street, Beaufort SC 29902 and also at the St. Helena Island Branch located at 6355 Jonathan Francis Senior Road, St Helena 29920. These are important events for parents and caregivers as well.

StoryfestSC to be held June 4, 2016

The South Carolina State Library is proud to announce award-winning authors/illustrators Lauren Castillo and Jarrett Krosoczka will be featured at StoryfestSC 2016—the state’s summer reading kick-off event. This year’s Collaborative Summer Library slogan is On Your Mark, Get Set...READ! StoryfestSC exposes families to children’s authors and the art of story and fosters an excitement for reading, especially throughout the summer.

Speaker @ the Center: Found Anew - May 18, 2016 at noon

Two University of South Carolina professors will discuss their new anthology work Found Anew during May's Speaker @ the Center event, discussing how the Palmetto State's rich history continues to inspire artists today. R. Mac Jones and Ray McManus, editors of the Found Anew anthology project, will discuss how digital archive collections can not only assist researchers and educators, but also authors and artists looking to ground their work in South Carolina.
