The Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) recently announced the winners of the 2016 Teen Video Challenge.  The Teen Video Challenge is a national competition for teens to get involved with reading and their public library's summer reading program.  Winning videos were selected at the state level to be recognized as an official CSLP Teen Video Challenge winner for 2016.

Leesa Aiken became the Agency Director of the South Carolina State Library May 16, the latest milestone in her nearly nine years of service to the state agency.

Aiken said that she was "grateful and excited" to be offered her new position, adding that she enjoys creating programs that have a statewide impact and that provide equal access to information for all South Carolinians.

Mark your calendars! Friday, June 3, 2016 SC Scout will visit two Beaufort County Libraries to talk with children about being storm ready. An iconic visual document of a pivotal moment in American history has a new home in downtown Spartanburg. The Johnson Collection’s monumental painting, The Battle of Gettysburg: The Repulse of Longstreet’s Assault, July 3, 1863, has been relocated from its former site to the Church Street headquarters of the Spartanburg County Public Libraries.

Two University of South Carolina professors will discuss their new anthology work Found Anew during May's Speaker @ the Center event, discussing how the Palmetto State's rich history continues to inspire artists today. R. Mac Jones and Ray McManus, editors of the Found Anew anthology project, will discuss how digital archive collections can not only assist researchers and educators, but also authors and artists looking to ground their work in South Carolina.
