M. Logan with foreword by Vernon E. Jordan, Jr. and prologue by James E. Clyburn. The event will be held Thursday, September 25 at the South Carolina State Library in Columbia, 1500 Senate Street from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Parking is available in the lot behind the library off Bull Street.

Now is the time to be aware of political and legislative events.  The South Carolina State Library is pleased to offer a free bring-your-own lunch and learn session on Internet and library resources to be ready for elections, South Carolina legislative topics and laws, and United States government contacts.  Make sure you know how and where to vote, contact representatives, and keep up with news and analysis, all from your computer and your library!

A free library card is your ticket to back-to-school savings.

September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when the South Carolina State Library joins with the American Library Association and public libraries nationwide to make sure that our students have the most important school supply of all – a free library card.

Resources at your local South Carolina public library are available to anyone who has a library card. Students can turn to the library for materials, programs and services that support academic achievement.

The South Carolina State Library is dedicated to providing online access to several digital collections. The South Carolina State Documents Depository provides access to publications produced by state agencies and state-supported academic institutions. These publications provide citizens with crucial information about state government, including statistics, annual accountability reports, and data on a wide variety of topics related to the state.

The popular webinar series, South Carolina State Government: Bit by Bit continues with two webinars scheduled for September and October 2014.  The free webinar series takes a look into the websites of our state’s government agencies to find unique and useful information about South Carolina.

The South Carolina State Library’s Center for the Book is pleased to announce its upcoming author line up for the Speaker @ the Center series.

In 2009, the Illinois State Library received a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to create ILEAD (Innovative Librarians Explore, Apply and Discover) USA, a new kind of leadership initiative that allows teams of library employees from all types of libraries to enhance their communities with technology.
