SCSL Partner SCBOS Launches New and Improved Website

South Carolina Business One Stop (SCBOS) is a free, government-provided online source for existing and emerging businesses. The website provides a bridge between business and South Carolina State Agencies. SCBOS provides assistance in starting, running, expanding, and relocating a business. Associated with the website is a Help Desk that is easily accessible and knowledgeable.

Culinary Historian Michael W. Twitty to serve as 2018 Preservation Week® Honorary Chair

Food writer, independent scholar, culinary historian and historical interpreter Michael W. Twitty will join the Association for Library Collections &Technical Services (ALCTS), a division of the American Library Association, to pass on his knowledge of family history and cooking during Preservation Week, April 22 – 28, 2018, a time when librarians and library workers share their expertise about preserving family heirlooms and treasures. 

Irmo Library to host Authors Event

Palmetto Scribe will be held on Saturday, April 28th from 2-5pm.  Meet 25 local authors in a casual, relaxed setting; ask questions and find out what's next on their list.  Books will be available for purchase and signing at this event. State Library to Host Deans' and Directors' Lecture 2018

As part of the USC School of Library and Information Science's annual Deans’ and Directors’ Lecture, Lee Rainie, director of internet and technology for Pew Research Center, will visit Columbia on Thursday, April 26. Rainie will discuss how librarians and journalists – as well as other groups dedicated to the advancement of truth – are at a crossroads in America. In particular, he’ll look at the role of librarians and news organizations as the information and social landscape change. Join us at 5:30 p.m.
